CHINESE WISDOM. A RITUAL OF YOUR OWN.

IRIS / CO-FOUNDER, SHANXIN TANG

Caring for the body.
Caring for the heart.

I’m Iris, one of the co-founders of Shanxin Tang. I share the small rituals I actually return to—and the Chinese wisdom that gives them meaning.

My journey began with an interest in inner growth. An early influence was Busting Loose From the Money Game. That exploration gradually led me toward the wisdom of Chinese sages, everyday practices of self-care at home, and the study of classical teachings. I have been following this path for five years.

I did not begin with this comb. I discovered it while exploring traditional approaches to scalp care and the meridian-based practices described in Chinese tradition. Today, I use the five-line incense comb often; it has become part of my everyday life.

A RITUAL I LIVE WITH

The first quiet moment of my morning.

The first thing I do after waking is comb my scalp. I also reach for the comb during little breaks in the day. I like the curve of its teeth and the gentle way they sit against my head.

In the traditional practice I have studied, the movements follow a meridian map of the head. For me, the experience is also very simple: the scent, the movement, and a little time to settle. The fragrance feels like a small connection to nature, and the ritual helps me feel more present.

“To care for the body is also to care for the heart and mind.”
Iris

This is the idea I hope to share with friends overseas. Chinese wisdom offers ways to think about the body and inner life together. You do not need to adopt a belief system to explore a quiet, thoughtful gesture.

From an inner question to an everyday ritual.

For five years, my learning has moved between inner growth, Chinese classical teachings, and the small ways we care for ourselves at home. The incense comb became part of that journey through use, rather than through an idea about what a product should promise.

At Shanxin Tang, we share the object, its cultural context, and the practice as we know it. My experiences with scent, meridians and awareness are personal. They are not promises of a medical effect.
